Who is Mara Prose?

“I used to call myself an aspiring writer but considering I write every day, I am a writer!!” ~ Mara Prose

Taking it one keyboard stroke at a time, Author and Publisher Mara Prose entertains and inspires her readers to embrace the spice of life through her sassy, smart, and straightforward approach to writing. Fueled by determination, persistence, and passion, she keeps them coming back for more – much more than they anticipated.

Whether reading her poetic memoir The Journey to Mara Prose, her articles such as “Unapologetically Me” or her thrilling epic family saga The Davenports: A Battle of Wills (available at Barnes and Noble & Amazon for purchase), her writing never disappoints. Her faithful following of Prosers thrive on her willingness to never sugarcoat reality and appreciate her “honest and heartfelt sharing” and “beautifully written blogs, articles, books and now screenplays.” They love that she invites them into the living room of life through her works of fiction.

Bottom line? They relate. And she empowers her readers to develop their self-awareness. Whatever their nationality, gender, religion, the universal and human quality of Mara’s work touches peoples’ spirits and emotions, giving them food for thought and igniting their passion for what they believe in.

“A one-page breakthrough starts an avalanche.”- Nora Roberts

When Mara was just nine years old, she discovered her gift of creative writing. Asked to rewrite the Old English Poem Beowulf for a class project, she transformed it into a modern play that would appeal to her fellow students at the time. She then allowed her reluctant mother – an avid reader and a tough sell – to read and critique it. Mom devoured it in one setting, and became the first one to validate Mara’s talent for writing. And Mara has become a force to be reckoned with in the industry every since.

But she only realized that writing would be more than a hobby for her when she established her first blog in 2012. In a single month Mara racked up 465 hungry readers across the globe, and now boasts over 6500 followers worldwide. She has even captivated individuals who do not consider themselves regular readers.  She even received commentary via the social media platform of Twitter from Gayle King and Tracey Edmonds.  Where Gayle King did not understand Mara blog post titled “Why do you talk and act like a “white” person?”, Tracey Edmonds gave positive words on encouragement, exclaimed how much she had enjoyed the blog and encouraged Mara Prose to keep writing.  To this day, Tracey is a big inspiration in all that Mara does professionally.

Mara’s best practices involve handwriting her stories, poems, and blogs before committing them to the keyboard. She carries a notepad with her and jots down the ideas as they hit. Now that she is an established author, publisher, radio host and screenwriter all while maintaining a demanding career in the oil and gas industry in the field of IT, it is imperative that Mara adhere to her routine to remain consistent with releasing new, fresh material on a regular basis.

When she’s not writing, you can find Mara serving as a mentor, radio personality and community leader. Motherhood has also deepened her passion for writing and is her biggest motivation for becoming a renowned author. Her love for her son and daughter compel Mara to gift them and their children to come with a lasting and meaningful legacy of work that can be passed down through the generations. And her bond with her daughter – another budding writer in the family – inspires her legacy all the more.

Get More Than You Bargained For

Mara dreams big, and wants you to dream big as well. She doesn’t just want to give you something to read – she wants you to get lost in a world beyond imagination and use that as inspiration to pursue your own dreams.

Mara Prose Publishing provides publishing opportunities to aspiring writers who want to circumvent the hassles of larger publishing houses and blaze ahead – just like Mara has –to propel themselves into their destinies.

Committed to the vision of becoming a globally successful writer, Mara also predicts her words will transform into movies and television mini-series. She will soon challenge herself and try her hand at non-fiction as well, Broadway stage plays.

With a little persistence, Mara expects she’ll get there. And in the process, she’s available to champion your success too. With hard work, she believes anything is possible.

As Calvin Coolidge says in one of Mara’s favorite quotes:
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
