Hello Prosers!
I am very excited to bring you today’s show but I will forewarn you, my sound editor sprinkled as much magic as he could to bring you a quality audio. Let’s just say, we came as close to the bullseye as humanly possible.
In 2018, I was offered the opportunity to host my own radio show. I had no idea how to even begin, and quite frankly I was terrified of failure. So, I brought Nicky W. into the fold and being that neither one of us received any formal training on hosting, our inexperience bleeds through in those first few seasons. Nevertheless, we had some amazing guests and it is material I do not want to lose. I hope you will ignore the audio quality and listen to the substance of the interview with Carl Ulysses because it really is a great interview and Carl deserves the recognition.
Today’s episode is one that is near and dear to my heart. In season 1 back in April of 2018, we were fortunate to have one of Hollywood’s most renowned custom tailors, Carl Ulysses. In 2018, the world was blown away with an entirely new representation of an African American comic book hero in Marvel’s the Black Panther, starring the late Chadwick Boseman.
Carl worked closely with Academy Award winning costume designer, Ruth Carter, who made history as the first African American woman to receive an Oscar for costume design. Carl is also known for his designs on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots, Ice Cube’s movie Barbershop and the 2018 action comedy Game Night starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams.
Since our conversation in 2018, Carl is now a well-recognized force in Hollywood and his projects are too many to name. If you would like to learn more about Carl and his upcoming projects, please visit his IMDB, or visit his website www.carlulysses.com.
It took a lot of work to bring this episode to you in a format more aligned with the Mara Prose standard of excellence you see today. I will readily admit it is far from our best work, but I could not miss out on this opportunity to bring you the interview that catapulted Prosey’s Corner to a new level.
Over the next few months, I will be remastering the best episodes from Season 1 and 2 for your listening pleasure. You can listen to this episode and all other recently released shows on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Pocket Casts, Deezer, Listen Notes, Stitcher, Player FM, Anchor, Vurbl and Podcast Index.
Thank you for supporting us for the past three years and being witness to the evolution of The Mara Prose Podcast – Prosey’s Corner. Enjoy the show!
Until next time,
Mara Prose
